Using a phone or tablet?

WEXS Beacon
Reads Beacon broadcasts, with no connection held. Runs in the background.
Using a PC or laptop?
BLE desktop software. A Windows computer reads sensors directly.
Using a PLC or DAQ?
Analog integration. A gateway turns wireless readings into 0–5 V signals.
Monitoring remotely through a gateway?
IoT monitoring. A cellular gateway sends sensor data to the cloud.

Standard BLE vs. Beacon Mode
Every Phoenix Sensors wireless sensor uses Bluetooth Low Energy. How the sensor is configured decides which App can read it.
Standard connected BLE
Your phone connects directly to the sensor, allowing two-way communication.
- Used by WEXS and WEXS-10 for standard local monitoring
- WEXS Pro adds Long Range and advanced datalogger features
- WEXS Pro can download stored EEPROM data from compatible sensors
- Best when you need to interact directly with the sensor
Beacon Mode
The sensor broadcasts its measurements in BLE advertisements instead of holding a connection.
- Sensor spends more time in low-power operation
- Can help improve battery life
- WEXS Beacon can monitor while running in the background
- Beacon data can also be read by WEXS-BLE-DSKTP on a PC, or collected by the WEXS-BLE-CEL gateway
- Does not download stored EEPROM data
